Crowbar - Dublin

After a full morning of exploring, walking, and Guinness drinking, two weary tourists needed some lunch. Dublin has an unbelievable number of traditional pubs full loud locals and neon green lights. But on this occasion we opted for the intriguing and mysterious looking bar at 2 Temple Lane. What really tempted us into Crowbar, though, was the poster outside advertising toasties.

The barman told us that after having so many customers ask for food they decided to add something they knew the hungry Irish people would love: toasties made with thick crusty bread, slabs of Irish cheddar, and some meaty add-ins.

I went for the BBQ melt. It was filled with creamy cheddar, tender and warm chicken chunks, BBQ sauce, red and spring opinion. It was a delicious and hearty lunch, and filled me with energy to continue the day exploring the beautiful city of Dublin. At €8 this meal was on the cheaper end of the Dublin eating-out prices. The city is expensive but there are a lot of fair-priced foodie treats if you are willing to search for them.

What deserves a very special mention is the cocktail in the picture. I told the barman I liked sweet and fruity cocktails and he whipped me up this fantastic Lemon Drop. He didn't give much away about the ingredients but I noticed a good few shots of vodka getting generously poured into the shaker. The result was the nicest cocktail I have ever tasted - and that's a high accolade coming from this self-confessed cocktail addict. It was like drinking a glass of creamy, sweet lemon mousse. It went down quickly, way too quickly for something costing €13, but that's just Dublin.
